You need credit passes (C6 or better) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, in not more than two sittings (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB), to enter any NMCN-approved nursing programme — whether the 3-year school-of-nursing RN route or the 5-year university BNSc (nmcn.gov.ng).

The rules behind this
- Five credits, one list: English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology — no substitutions. WAEC, NECO and NABTEB all count.
- Maximum two sittings. Combining three exams' results does not meet the NMCN requirement.
- School of Nursing (RN): apply directly to the school; most run their own entrance exam and interview. From the 2026/2027 JAMB policy, colleges of nursing use a UTME cut-off of 150.
- University BNSc: apply through JAMB UTME (English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology) plus post-UTME screening.
- Already an RN? Direct Entry into BNSc programmes accepts your RN certificate — check each university's brochure on IBASS.
